The Weser passage valley between the Weser and Wiehen mountains with the Kaiser Wilhelm monument on the slope of the Wittekindsberg has become the city's landmark and namesake. For decades, hikers, cyclists, holidaymakers and those looking for relaxation have recognized the beauty of the landscape at the "Westphalian Gate". A well-developed network of paths is available for hikers and cyclists. In addition to various circular routes, the quality hiking trail Weserbergland-Weg (XW), the family-friendly circular hiking trail Forest Adventure Path and the popular long-distance Weser Cycle Path also run here.
