Nothing is explained to you in the tiny park. There's only the funny statue of Friedhelm Zilly. Here's the story:
    "The Moon Sprinklers
Many years ago, a farmer in Wössingen was checking on his cattle one evening before going to bed. He saw an unusual brightness in the pigpen and suspected a fire. He frantically alerted the fire department. They first sprayed large quantities of water into the top of the pigpen. The fire wouldn't let up. A courageous firefighter finally ripped open the pigpen door so they wouldn't have to spray only through the top opening. What did they discover? The brightness in the pigpen was caused by the full moon shining through the window. So, they had been splashing the moonlight. From then on, their dear neighbors called the Wössingers "Moon Sprinklers." This nickname has stuck with them to this day.

The sculpture "Moon Splasher" in the Wössingen Civic Garden, which derives from the nickname of the Wössingen residents, is based on the fact that once, when the moon shone on the water, they believed the water was burning and set out with fire engines.

Sculpture by sculptor Friedhelm Zilly from 2012.
The people of Wössingen are nicknamed "Moon Splashers," explains Wolfgang Dehm. Why this is so becomes clear in the Moon Splasher Park, where a fountain tells the story.
