The castle is of course the centre of Hirrlingen.
Today the castle houses the following facilities. In addition to the town hall, the notary's office, storage areas for the municipality, a doctor's office, a naturopathy practice, the fire brigade, the German Red Cross, the bakery,
private apartments, the Bellni studio and the theatre community, all of which are housed here.

Hirrlingen Castle in Hirrlingen in the district of Tübingen in Baden-Württemberg is one of the few rural Renaissance castles in Baden-Württemberg that have survived almost unchanged. The castle was built from 1557 to 1558 by Baron Georg VII von Ow (1517-1575) based on the model of the Bühler Castle in the Renaissance style. The palace building is three-storey on a rectangular ground plan and has a high gabled roof. Two round towers at the corners of the north side give it a fortified character with their loopholes on the ground floor. The earlier moats that ran around the entire palace area have been largely removed. The castle pond has only survived towards the village. The courtyard front is structured by a centrally placed octagonal stair tower. Opposite the entrance to the courtyard, a two-storey bay window with the decorative coat of arms of the builder and a later owner rises in the south-east corner.
The von Ow-Hirrlingen family died out in 1709. The castle was inherited by Imperial Count Anton Ferdinand von Attems. The municipality acquired it in the 19th century. Today it houses the town hall of the municipality of Hirrlingen. The outbuildings that form the castle courtyard also largely date from the 16th century.
An epitaph in the parish church of St. Martin reminds us of the builder: Anno domini 1575, June 27th, the noble and vested Georg von Ow zu Hirrlingen fell asleep in Christ, whom God wished to bestow with all the resurrected ones a happy resurrection.

The municipal administration is located in part of the former castle.
