A large valley tarn that is designated as a SSSI and nature reserve for the species of plant and animal that live in and around it.
As a runner although the north-western shore is on open access land it's boggy and more fun to stay on the footpath and bridleway that skirts the tarn a short distance away from the shore.
It makes a nice, shortish run from Wray Castle.
