This is a great lake for water sports from rowing to sailing. It even has a swimming club and a yearly swimming race down the lake. Boat cruises go up and down the lake daily and there is a lovely esplanade in town along the lakes edge

Hiking

The largest natural lake (actually it's not a lake - it's a mere... hence the name) in England lies within the Lake District National Park and is a paradise for outdoor fans (and indeed you find masses of outdoor shops in each larger town). Beautiful from many angles and viewpoints, and great for water sports, hiking and biking Tours alike.
