If you come to Solingen Gräfrath via the corkscrew route, you can see the old town from afar. The monastery church of St. Maria Himmelfahrt towers majestically above everything and looks down on its "subjects", around 120 monuments, all of which are listed as a whole and show you what it looked like here in the area before industrialization.

The many half-timbered houses, some clad with slate, are typical. Narrow streets and of course cobblestones are also part of it. Around the market square you will find restaurants, cafés, ice cream parlors and beer gardens. Here you can take an enjoyable break when the weather is nice. The mere fact that the old town is not car-free is a real shame.

From a cyclist's point of view, Gräfrath is perfectly connected via the corkscrew route, which in Wuppertal has a connection to the panorama cycle path towards Wülfrath and the Nordbahntrasse, while behind Solingen Burg in Wermelskirchen you come to the Balkantrasse to Leverkusen.
