The corkscrew line ...
Between Wuppertal Vohwinkel and Solingen Hauptbahnhof there was a branch line from 1887 until the final decommissioning in 1995. Due to the topographical conditions, it was a relatively long distance, which in a double-S made a connection between the former Solingen main station and Wuppertal-Vohwinkel via barrier tree, forest and Gräfrath. Given the long lines, it is not surprising that the importance of the route in passenger transport was never very high. Already in 1942 the scheduled passenger traffic was discontinued. First, the route was then used for freight transport, 1958 but already shut down between forest and Gräfrath. The section Gräfrath - Vohwinkel followed in 1989, the southeast to the forest in 1995.

The Korkenziehertrasse joins the Nordbahntrasse coming from Wuppertal-Vohwinkel towards Solingen. It is a former railway line that has been extended to a cycle path, versatile in nature. It rolls wonderfully downhill.
