The Dobraschütz church was first mentioned in connection with the founding of the Franciscan monastery in Altenburg in 1290. Even then there was apparently a chapel in Dobraschütz that belonged to the parish of Mehna. A visitation report from the Reformation period from 1528 then said: "The Mehna pastor has a branch called Dobersitz with the associated villages of Cosse (Oberkossa) and Neundorf (Naundorf)." Around 1607 the chronicler and pastor Johann Tauchwitz reported from Monstab from a small and ramshackle chapel on a hill in the middle of the village.

On May 3, 1751, the cornerstone of a new, larger church was laid on the site of the demolished old chapel, which still characterizes the village today. On November 6, 1752, the church was put into service. With its almost completely preserved furnishings from the time it was built, the Dobraschütz church is an important testimony to the rural culture and piety of the Altenburg region.

The flat ceiling, the galleries and the pews impress with their uniform, blue, peasant painting. Putti, colored floral wreaths, ornaments and cartouches with biblical verses are artfully combined in it. The nave is decorated with a carved and painted chandelier, a 19th century peasant work.

A treasure that is unique in the Altenburg region and that draws national attention is a shelf on the east gallery with thirteen death crowns from the 18th century. These crowns were part of the customs of the Altenburg farmers for centuries. They were used to decorate the coffins of the unmarried deceased at the funeral.

After the last restoration in 1914, the Dobraschütz church was considered one of the most beautiful places of worship in the entire Altenburg region. The unfavorable circumstances of the GDR era caused its luster to fade. Only in 1992 could the roof be re-covered and the windows of the church renewed. After 2010, intensive pest infestation threatened to destroy the valuable interior. More and more paint was peeling off the painting. If the painting had not been fixed and restored quickly, it would soon have been irretrievably lost.

The first mention of a church dates back to the 16th century, which was demolished in 1751 due to building defects. Today's baroque church was then built in 1752.

The church was built in 1751/52 on the site of a previous building as a rectangular, plastered hall with a slated, tiled tower and lantern.

A special feature is its almost completely preserved interior and the rich, coherent painting in blue peasant baroque. Of note are four epitaphs and 13 funeral crowns dating from the period between 1791 and 1811.

Zacharias Kresse (1800-1876), a native of the village, became a prominent local poet.
