Very beautiful lake, unfortunately only part of the circular route can be walked.

The Penkwitzer See, also called Restloch Spora, is a former opencast mine east of Zeitz near the border with Saxony. The lake lies in a landscape rich in fields, but is surrounded by a relatively dense population of trees. On the Penkwitz side the bank slopes down rather gently and sand banks form. There are also some shallow water areas with plenty of weed at the northern and southern ends. Although the water is located in Saxony-Anhalt, it is managed by the Leipzig Anglers' Association.
