Old Platform of the Powder Factory

There is still an old platform here on the site of the former powder factory.

The powder factories around Geesthacht, which had been located in Krümmel since 1865 and Düneberg since 1876, were connected to the railway lines in 1916 and 1907 respectively.
The port in Geesthacht behind and today's commercial area on "Düneberger Straße" in front of the Geesthacht train station (seen from Hamburg) were also connected to the rail network.
During the First World War, the transport services and the number of people transported increased so much due to the increased production of gunpowder, etc. that the route between *Geesthacht and Bergedorf had to be double-tracked in October 1916. The increased journeys were initially made by the "BGE" alone. After the war, these journeys naturally decreased again, so that the second track was dismantled again.
This spectacle was repeated again in the preparations for the Second World War. This time the "Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft" took over these multiple journeys from the start.

There are many small highlights here where you can see the past. Here it is a really old wall.
