Steles at the City Museum, Bad Urach
At the City Museum, the former monastery mill, two steles have been erected: for Mechthild of the Palatinate (1419 - 1482) and for Princess Sabina (see Residential Palace).
Mechthild was born in Heidelberg as the second child of Elector Ludwig III of the Palatinate and his wife Countess Matilda of Savoy-Achaia. She became the wife of Count Ludwig I of Württemberg and gave birth to five children, among whom was Count Eberhard im Barte, later Duke Eberhard I, the shining light of Württemberg. After Ludwig's sudden death, she was married to Archduke Albrecht VI of Austria. The marriage made Mechthild the Archduchess of Austria and, as the sister-in-law of Emperor Frederick III, she was considered the highest-ranking lady in the entire Holy Roman Empire after Empress Eleonora. After eleven years, Albrecht VI died and Mechthild was a widow for the second time.

The overgrown water wheel on the side of this old monastery mill is worth seeing.
