This half-mile column is a replica of the post-mile column from 1724 that originally stood not far from this point, with row number 46 on the former post road from Chemnitz to Schwarzenberg. The column was erected at the end of the 1990s on behalf of the city of Zwönitz, together with two other copies, a quarter mile stone and a full mile column, and in contrast to the original, which was made of Greifenstein granite, it was made of Elbe sandstone with a base of Lausitz granite.
