After the Rochuskapelle, which was built in 1748, offered too little space, today's parish church of St. Rochus was built in neo-gothic style in 1896/97 according to the plans of the architect Ludwig Becker from Cologne.
The chapel and the church together with the castle form the optical center of Hohenecken, a popular motif for painters and photographers.
