For a long time, the coat of arms of Württemberg was primarily the identifying symbol of the members of the ruling house. Over time, the coat of arms went through many changes.
The stag is the heraldic animal of Württemberg and the griffin is the heraldic animal of Baden. Stag antlers were therefore part of the Württemberg coat of arms for a long time and still adorn many buildings and old boundary stones today. More information at: de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hirschstange
