The "Alte Wache", an almost square building with a columned hall in the entrance area, was built in 1853 according to plans by Ludwig Wachhusen as a guard and detention center.
Here was the quarters for the guards of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg Dragoon Regiment 17.
In front of the building, the granite blocks with the indentations for the gun mounts of the guards of the time are still preserved. The upper floor also housed detention cells, whose inmates immortalized themselves in the heavy wooden doors, which are still in their original condition today.
