"... Most of the bodies of water in the Teverene Heide are the result of clay and sometimes sand mining. They are very diverse and range from shallow ponds, which can dry out in summer, to shallow ponds and larger, deep lakes with steep banks. The resulting depressions were shaped after the end of the mining and left to their own devices, some of which were also reforested on the shore.
