Kathewitz was first mentioned in 1253. Due to constant flooding, the place was relocated in 1501. The manor house Kathewitz was built in 1912 in the form of a manufacturer's villa by the Erdmann family. The Nette family later bought the property. In 1945 the family left this place. After the war it was a home for displaced persons and from 1952 a children's home. In 1990 the family reacquired the property and is in the process of creating a holiday resort for families with children.
