The viewpoint on the Deusenberg offers a fascinating view of the imposing Hansa coking plant, a monument to the mining industry, and the green plateau of the slag heap. Especially at sunset, a unique atmosphere emerges here, combining rusty history with urban nature. Those who like can extend the tour with a detour to the Emscher River or the Rahmer Wald recreation area.

The slag heap is being reclaimed as part of the Emscher regeneration project is becoming increasingly clear and is increasingly filled with animal and plant life – the stench has disappeared. Cyclists now use the increasingly popular river cycle path along the Emscher. And the garbage dump has also become an amazingly green local recreation area..."
