Four gables adorn the facade; two gables are found on the eastern front (facing Piwna Street towards St. Mary's Church). The Great Armoury, which served as an arsenal, is flanked by two towers. Bronze sculptures in the form of exploding cannonballs at the gable peaks allude to the building's purpose.
