Below on the back of the Petit Ballon ran the Telepherique which supplied the German positions here at an icy height. While the larger fighting took place on the Hilsenfirst or on the Lingekopf or Hartmannswillerkopf, it was possible up here that such a bunker could last for over a hundred years in a very good condition.
