The village Großenteich was built in the 18th century along the ponds, which were slowly dried out. In 1820, the Saxon company Louis built a cotton weaving mill. In 1840, the weaving mill was abandoned and the company building converted into a residential building, it was called the "machine". After the year 1950 the settlement was demolished and only the monument of Gottesmarter remained.
