The Galluskirche is dedicated to the Irish missionary and wandering monk, who worked in the Bodensee area in the seventh century. The church was built in the 9th century, making it the oldest Romanesque church in Franconia and one of the oldest churches in the whole of southern Germany. Even the striking architecture will captivate you, but the unfussy interior takes you completely into the Middle Ages. Definitely worth seeing!

The current cemetery church from the 9th century is the oldest church building of Carolingian origin in Franconia and one of the oldest churches in southern Germany as well as the oldest building in Pappenheim.
