In the center of the parish is built around 1280 Katharinen Church in Embsen. It was donated by the Barnstedt castle master Manneke of Estorff for the salvation of his son and replaced in 1380 by a Gothic building. Striking is the free-standing wooden bell tower.

The Gothic Katharinenkirche replaced an older building around 1380, which was donated around 1280 by the Lüneburg knight Manecke von Estorff in memory of his son who died in a crusade. Even today, as when it was founded, it is a patron saint of the von Estorff family. Likewise, the spatial expansion of the municipality has remained almost unchanged since then: apart from Embsen, seven villages belong to the municipality.

Externally, the image of the church is shaped by the free-standing wooden bell tower and the thick retaining walls added later on the nave. Inside the vaulted building, the unusual floor plan is surprising.
