... The lookout tower should round off the offer in the local recreation area Hambörn for locals and tourists. There, at the end of Westergellerser Straße, there is an already unique ensemble of community forest, jungle cell, sheepfold, Köhlerhütte and a small heather area. A 34-meter-long footbridge extends into the jungle cell, which ends at a small viewing platform in the natural beech forest. That was the result of the “Barrier-free nature experience” project in autumn 2012. The Hambörn is one of the 32 selected “natural wonders” of the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park.
