The three Solling forest master families from Neuhaus, Winnefeld and Knobben, namely Gussone, Steinhoff and Bräuer, lost a total of seven (!) sons in World War I. The Hans Bräuer honored here was the only son of the head of the forestry office von Knobben, who erected this memorial stone for him north of the Vahle forester's lodge.
