The architect Oscar Mothes built a church here in Rüdigsdorf that corresponds to Protestantism in its simplicity and straightness, while also drawing on the Gothic design language. In just one year of construction, one of the first neo-Gothic churches in Saxony was built in 1848/49 - incorporating the walls of the previous building. Mothes was a student of Gottfried Semper.
At the center of the church is the risen Christ, as shown on the reverse glass painting of the altarpiece.
