Wolfenbüttel has a wonderful old town with many, many beautifully preserved half-timbered buildings. Including the narrowest half-timbered house in the world - or at least it would be a good applicant ;-)

The narrow house was built here in 1751 in a former fire alley. In the narrow passage, leather buckets with extinguishing water from the nearby Oker used to be carried to burning houses. The width to the street is 2.20 m.
