The gardener's monument is reminiscent of the gardening town of Wolfenbüttel. It shows a gardener with a filled basket full of harvest and a gardener removing wild herbs from between the vegetable plants with a sniffing iron.

The place is already adequately described by other Komoot members. Once again, however, it shows what beautiful places Wolfenbüttel has to offer.

A gardener with a shoehorn and a gardener with a basket stand on the lawn in front of the Trinitatiskirche, to whose parishioners the gardeners in front of the ducal gates counted beside the soldiers of the garrison. The assembly of the gardener families Wolfenbüttel commissioned the work REMEMBERING 300 YEARS OF VEGETABLE CULTIVATION in 1997 from Frijo Müller-Belecke from Hemmor / Cuxhaven and organized the financing. The sculptor had made a name for himself with easily understandable, near-natural, constantly modified, traditional works in the public spaces of many German cities. The Wolfenbüttel group of figures, which is reminiscent not of hardship, but of the happiness of gardening, also corresponds to this design approach. In Wolfenbüttel, the pair of gardeners is one of the most popular sculptures in the city and is closely linked to the prominent location, which formerly housed the "Kaiser Wilhelm Stein" and the "Artillery Fountain". The commercial horticulture forms an important chapter in the history of Wolfenbüttel. Especially after the relocation of the ducal residence from Wolfenbüttel to Braunschweig in 153/54, the gardeners with their draw yards determined the appearance of the city. The vegetables were sold at weekly markets or processed in the local canning industry. Founder of the largest cannery "Busch, Barnewitz & Co." was Alfred Busch, whose brother Wilhelm Busch often visited him in Wolfenbüttel. After 1945, in the course of new residential development, the profession increasingly disappeared from the city. However, at the end of the 50s of the last century, there were still around 130 families engaged in horticulture. The Gartenstadt tradition is also dedicated to the "Gardener Museum Wolfenbüttel e.V.", opened in 2014. on the new way.
