The Rapp oak is in the middle of the Sababurg forest. It is clearly visible from the circular route. It is one of the few oak trees in the jungle that bears a name. The oak is named after Hermann-Josef Rapp, former deputy head of the forest office in Reinhardshagen. Rapp is the author of a book and has conducted over 1,000 guided tours in the Reinhardswald. The oak is one of the best preserved oaks in the jungle. The monumental trunk has a pronounced root system. The roots sometimes go more than 1 m above ground from the trunk. The first branches, which form a complete crown, emerge from the cylindrical trunk at a height of 3 m. Some branches have died. Vitality is still very good.
