The listed clock tower is the landmark of the Neu-Bamberg community. It was once one of the 3 gates of the city fortifications. The village owes its origin to the New Tree Castle (Novo Boinburc), which was founded by the Raugrafen in 1253 and whose ruins still characterize the townscape today. Restored half-timbered houses, farmsteads, gardens and the old water house give the town center on the Burgberg its unique charm.

The clock tower is also called Kandelpforte.
The rectangular gate tower with semi-circular corner extensions on projections, round arch frieze and coat of arms dates from the 14th century. The hipped roof and ridge turret were added in the 18th century. The pointed arched gate, which was originally closable with a portcullis, was raised in 1906.
The early 18th-century mechanical tower clock, lovingly restored in 2000, is an outstanding masterpiece. The only thing missing is a minute hand.
