Châlons-en-Champagne, formerly Châlons-sur-Marne is bordered as its name suggests by the Marne to the west of the city. This river is a tributary of the Seine. The city is pleasant and has interesting architecture.

Châlon,** the capital of the Marne department, is one of the pillars of Champagne. People come here for the beautiful cathedral and collegiate church, which are an important stopping point on the route to Santiago de Compostela, and for the many memorial sites that bear witness to a rich past. In the city center you can still admire a number of beautiful half-timbered houses, there are old bridges over the two canals and extensive gardens where you can enjoy walking. It is a pleasant break for those who are crossing the region and immediately want to visit the Basilica of Notre-Dame de l'Epine, which is on the World Heritage List.

Nice little old town on the Place de la République with beautiful houses.
Worth seeing churches and a Kathedrahle.
Beautiful parks on the Marne and the Marne Lateral Canal.
City with an interesting history and possibly the area of the Battle of the Catalaunian Fields.
