The Leinburg near Kleingartach, also known as Lüneburg or Luneburg, is a ruined hilltop castle. It was built around 1200 by the Lords of Leinburg and was located on the 307-meter-high Leinberg. The castle was abandoned in the 16th century and has been considered derelict since 1442.

Leinburg is an abandoned hilltop castle in Kleingartach, a district of Eppingen in the Heilbronn district. It is located at an altitude of 300 meters and offers a picturesque view over the Leintal. The area is surrounded by vineyards and forests and is ideal for outdoor activities such as hiking and cycling.

The Leinburg (also Luneburg, Lüneburg) above the small named brook Lein was a hilltop castle, of which only the castle stables and small remains of the wall have been preserved.

It was built around 1200 by the local aristocratic lords of Leinburg and was mentioned in a document in the 13th century. The local aristocrats probably died out around 1600. After a few changes of ownership - also due to its location in the border area between Baden and Württemberg - the castle fell into disrepair around 1442.

Today there is a restaurant built on the old foundation walls, which is currently (as of December 2021) permanently closed. These foundation walls can still be found at the cellar entrance at the parking lot.

Some resting places invite you to linger. From here you can also enjoy the view over Kleingartach to the Stromberg ridge.
