"... The Garather Mühlenbach is a creek about 10 kilometers long. It touches the North Rhine-Westphalian cities of Solingen, Hilden, and Düsseldorf.
The source of the Garather Mühlenbach lies between Solingen-Ohligs and Hilden. It is also called Kalversterzer Bach on its upper course in the Solingen area and flows there 20 meters below a high-voltage line in a pipe. The Galkhauser Bach flows into the Garath Mühlenbach near Garath Castle. Below this estuary, around the time it reaches the floodplain of the Rhine at Hellerhof, it is then referred to as the Urdenbacher Altrhein. Another tributary in the Garath Schlosspark in Düsseldorf-Garath is the Rietrather Bach, which rises in Solingen, flows into it from Langenfeld and used to drive the Riethrath mill. In addition, the Horster Flutgraben, which is fed by the Itter, flows into the Garather Mühlenbach. The discharge of the water from the Itter is controversial because of the poor quality due to the pollution with organic and chemical substances. ... "
