Beautiful ruins of an 11th century fortress. There are three wall rings and five towers. One can climb one of the towers to see the valley below.
It is an unbelievable feeling to stand in the open air in a former castle hall.
Opening hours:
from March to September: Wed - Sun, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m., from October to the last Sunday in November 10 a.m. - 5 p.m
If you want to park very close to the castle, you have to drive through a very narrow street.

The Castello di Avio, also known as Castello di Sabbionara (in older German texts as "Schloss Aue"), dates back in part to the 11th century and is one of the oldest fortifications in Trentino. It is located above the Vallagarina (German: Lagertal) in the municipality of Avio (district of Sabbionara d'Avio). Since 1977, thanks to a donation from Countess Emanuela di Castelbarco, the castle has been owned by the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI) foundation.
