Between the historic town hall in Bergedorf and the observatory you can walk very well through beautiful nature, away from the main roads, over a few small bridges and more or less appealing sculptures, as well as along interesting allotment gardens, on the Schulenbrooksbek.

The Schulenbrooksbek is a creek about five kilometers long. It rises on the south-eastern border of Wentorf near Hamburg near the premises of Möbel Schulenburg. It initially flows along the border between Wentorf and Börnsen in a west-south-west direction through boggy forest and later through the Schulenbrook lowland in Hamburg-Bergedorf. After the brook widens into a small lake in the town hall park in Bergedorf, the "Bek" (Low German for Bach) then flows from the intersection "Am Brink" in a tunnel to the south into the Brookwetterung.

From the year 1491 the location is handed down by dem Schulenbroke. The defining word comes from nd. "Schuulen" for "hide", "hide"; the basic word means "break (-land)", "break forest". The name of the river, Schulenbrooksbek, therefore means “stream in” or “out of the hidden break”.
