A MUST-DO if you're "walking" exploring Erfurt's city center.

You should see the town hall, but also the guildhalls, the fish market, and the "Red Ox" house.

According to the tour guide, the column with Neptune on the fish market was/is affectionately called "Roland." However, Roland is definitely not the right word here, as Erfurt wasn't considered a free imperial city in the Middle Ages.

Fun fact: Have you ever noticed the wagon wheel in Erfurt's coat of arms? It's no coincidence that Mainz has two wagon wheels in its coat of arms: Erfurt was forcibly subjugated by the people of Mainz in 1664. Erfurt only became part of Prussia in 1802. (The exception to this was from 1806 to 1814, when Erfurt was a principality under French rule.)
