Church of Sant Corneli de Collbató

The Santo Corneli church has been documented since the 11th century. It seems that it was renovated during the sixteenth century or the first half of the seventeenth, although this must have been partial, since between the end of the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth the building was completely renovated, building it a new plant. It is then that the relief must have been partitioned, which appeared under the rose window on the façade during a restoration in 1985

It is a building built with irregular stones and brick. The cover is made of good stone. The facade is culminated by an undulating shape, with a circular opening in the center. A sculpture of Saint Cornelius is located on a pedestal inside an open niche above the entrance door of the church. The saint, patron of the parish, is represented as a bishop, seated, dressed in a long habit, bearded and with open hands, possibly to hold the palm of martyrdom. It is from the 18th century, or perhaps the 17th. It is contemporary to the baroque construction.A relief seems to represent the piety scene with the Virgin holding Christ. It may be one of the reprofitable elements in the construction of the church. This makes him suspicious of its location.A key voussoir from a portal arch can be seen, probably from the 17th century and possibly located at the entrance to the church. It has a sculpted niche with a shell inside which there is a relief of San Cornelo with the papal tiara. His name is inscribed above in Roman letters. On the spandrels there are some stubs of little angels and under the plinth held by the saint there is another larger stub, like a permòdol, which also looks like an angel. The technique shows a marked popular character.There is also a polychrome baroque carving from the 17th-18th centuries located in the side chapel of Roser of the Virgin Mary of Roser.
