The Santa Cova sanctuary is accessed by a path called Camí de la Santa Cova. Along the camí there is a series of sculptures dedicated to the rosary and the 15 mysteries of the Virgin, including works by Antoni Gaudí, Josep Puig i Cadafalch and other artists. The Santa Cova de Montserrat is where the Virgin of Montserrat was hidden during the Muslim invasions. It was later discovered by shepherds in the year 880. Its discovery made Montserrat a pilgrimage destination and led to the founding of Montserrat Abbey.
