The mountain church St. Kilian, which stands on the edge of Nierstein in an elevated position with a view of the Rhine, goes back to a Franconian foundation and is mentioned for the first time in 742. Today's Catholic parish church was consecrated in 1776 and consists of a baroque nave with an attached, modern St. Mary's Chapel (wonderfully shining windows when the sun is shining). The interior is from the 19th and 20th centuries. There is a beautiful view from the church square.

The Catholic Church of St. Kilian is outside the center of Nierstein in the middle of the vineyards. The gate tower of the church is Romanesque, while the upper floor of the tower with the onion dome and the single-nave nave are from the 18th century.
