This stone was unearthed by Young Pioneers and members of the Free German Youth (FDJ) around 1960 and transported to Sion.
There, the monolith was placed in the schoolyard and adorned with a Thälmann plaque.
In 1989, local historians retrieved the stone and re-erected it in its original location.
