Small shelter for hikers to avoid getting wet.

The roof is supposed to protect the levada from falling debris, but a unique fauna has developed here.

At km 2.26 from church comes the announcement "next possibility right"
In fact, on the right, a steep stairway goes up from the Levada.
Is however a (sweaty :-)) false alarm: halfway up it turns out that the slight right turn of the Levada was meant

Here it drips nice and cool from above.

Unfortunately, currently (April 23) there is no waterfall to be protected from.

Here you get through dry feet.

and then again and again the slope water drips down into the valley

At the Levada do Moinha you walk a short distance along a wall of water that is overgrown with lichens, ferns and mosses. A narrow roof protects you from getting soaking wet.

If the children are sure-footed and free from giddiness, the tour is also good with children. Only the first ascent to the levada can be exhausting in the sun.
