Hermann Löns (born August 29, 1866 in Culm, West Prussia, today Chełmno, Poland; † September 26, 1914 near Loivre near Reims, France) was a German journalist and writer. Already during his lifetime, Löns, whose ideal landscape was the heath, became known as a hunter, nature and local poet, as well as a natural scientist and protector, becoming a myth and known as the “heath poet”.
