Chiesa Santa Maria delle Nevi, Girifalco
It was built on the site of the church of the Dominican Monastery, born in 1548 and dedicated to Santa Maria delle Grazie (once today's Piazza Umberto I was called "piano di Santa Maria"). Until the end of the eighteenth century, the church in the hamlet of "Pioppi vecchi", in the oldest part of the country, served as Matrice, but was destroyed by the 1783 earthquake. The urban center expanded and so it was decided to place its headquarters in its most central position today, despite a reconstruction project of 1795, through the sacred chest, by the architect of the Kingdom of Naples Ermenegildo Sintesi.
