The old courthouse and prison was designed in 1892 by the architect HC Amberg. It has shaped Esbjerg with its checkered history. Without the sustained commitment of the city's citizens, the house would never have been built. Entrepreneurs bought the land, and as early as the 1870s, people were pushing for permission to build a courthouse and prison.
Today you can get married here and the tourist information is on the ground floor.
