The stream rises southeast of Hermesdorf at an altitude of 364. It flows primarily in southeastern directions and passes the village of Bruchhausen. Below Oberholpe, the stream is then called Holper Bach. Then it flows through the already mentioned Oberholpe and Holpe and Kaltau and flows through the Pirzenthal at 139 m on the right-hand side in the Sieg.
