"In terms of its cultural and village development characteristics, the town of Holpe is of unique importance within the entire community of Morsbach. The self-contained town center, which is well worth preserving, and the striking green structures that connect it, e.g. at the Holpener Bach, shape the local atmosphere of Holpe. The old village center Holpe is dominated by the Protestant and Catholic churches. A large number of other individual buildings (mostly half-timbered houses) worth preserving, some of which are listed, are grouped around these two buildings that are important to the townscape.

The people of Holpen were also proud of their lively village structure with a primary school, kindergarten, butcher, baker, savings bank, grocery store, post office, doctor, churches of both denominations including a cemetery, fire department and funeral home. This collection of infrastructure elements was rarely found in villages as small as Holpe, as a study by the University of Cologne showed. Unfortunately, these infrastructure facilities are increasingly dwindling.

In 1999 and 2002, Holpe was named a "gold village" at the district level by the evaluation commission "Our village should become more beautiful - our village has a future", and in 2000 even at the state level. District Administrator Hans-Leo Kausemann praised the village at the time with the words: "The whole of Holpe is one village community."

Lt. State curator, Holpe is a “clear historical document”. “Its preservation is important for the history of people and the region,” the state curator draws attention to the historical witness to the history of the settlement. Therefore, Holpe meets the requirements for designation as a monument area. A report from the state conservator highlights the well-preserved historical local structure, the significant topography and the visual references."
