The title of the highlight gives the wrong impression. The bronze figure is not "the sausage thief" by Wilhelm Busch. The more appropriate name for the highlight would perhaps be: "Lohrer Mops with blood sausage cast in bronze". I'm pretty sure that the figure is symbolic, representing the citizens who were born in Lohr. As far as I can remember, the "Lohrer" are also referred to as "Mopper". 😉 But I could also be wrong about this. The dog figure set up on the palace square could also have another meaning?! 🤔 If I were the artist in charge, I wouldn't have put a human statue (except Snow White) there either. The castle and the Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs silhouette are quite enough in the fairytale location. To put any life-size statue there, meant to represent the people of Lohr, would have completely distorted the picture in my opinion. And that's why the responsible person probably came to the decision to simply put an inconspicuous little pug there. 😉

The very beautiful town of Lohr, which is well worth a visit, has completely adapted to its role as a Snow White and fairy tale town. Many objects of art, as well as hotels and guesthouses, refer to it appropriately. A stroll is worthwhile and has many surprises!
