At the beginning of the 19th century, our region was the scene of one of the greatest battles of the Napoleonic Wars, the Battle of Jena and Auerstedt. To this day, the Friedensstein on the Knabenberg is a reminder of the events of that time. It was erected 200 years ago on June 18, 1816 and is the oldest memorial to the victims of war and violence in Germany.
