If you rent a holiday home on the island or just want to stay overnight, of course, you usually come with your own vehicle, as you naturally have to transport a lot and can only carry it with you on the bus with great difficulty.
The crossing / crossing is also possible by bike or on foot, but not an absolute pleasure due to the very stony gravel road.
Of course, if the opportunity arises, you can just go over there, explore the island and hike back again. The schedule should of course be strictly adhered to because of the flood and also some other important points.Today's island trail is called Låningsvejen and is almost always completely unproblematic to drive on its 7 kilometers at low tide, as it is located on a slightly raised dike that is dry at low tide.It is a gravel road and you should really stick to the prescribed speed of 25 km / hour. If a vehicle comes towards you, watch out for falling rocks and pass as very, very slowly as possible. And in larger areas of water you should also drive extremely slowly and never underestimate the water depth. In summer the road can often be used for up to 18 hours a day, in the stormy season there are often only a few hours left or nothing works for days in the event of a storm surge. When is the road passable?
Driving on / walking on is usually only possible at low tide, as despite the dyke there are more or less floods twice a day at high tide. This depends not only on the normal tide, but also on the changing wind conditions, the season and the presence of a full or new moon. When arriving and departing, information about the current navigability must be obtained beforehand.Source and further information:mandoe.de/html/mandoe_anreise_auto.html
