The property called "Schloss Maurach" below the Birnau church is a baroque building complex that used to house useful buildings, especially the stables of Salem Castle.
Buildings were first mentioned here in 1155. The present-day representative appearance was given to the property after 1722 under the Salem abbot Stephan I. Jung.
As a shipping pier, the property was used to transport goods to Salem Castle, as the direct connection meant that no customs had to be paid.
Today there are conference rooms in Schloss Maurach.
